A distinguishing characteristic between The Norm and Outperform: The Norm is reactive. They allow the external environment to dictate how they'll show up.
They wake up, flip on the news, react.
They open their phone, scroll social media, react.
They get in their car, are cut off in traffic, react.
The environment dictates the quality of the day they'll have.
If the news is positive (haha, I know!), social media is friendly, and traffic is civil, they'll have a good day. Or vice versa.
Outperformers do it differently.
They are intentional about how they'll show up. They're thermostats (proactive), not thermometers (reactive).
It's a simple concept but let's not get it twisted: simple is NOT easy, especially in this case.
I truly believe, to my core, that nobody sets out to be angry. Judgmental. Distracted. Condescending. Defensive. Resentful.
Why, then, do we show up this way?
We show up this way because we're reacting.
There are plenty of people (The Norm) dying to do this. And in our hyper-connected world, there's always an abundance of things to react TO.
But this is not how we cultivate our Outperforming best.
Our best is summoned by CHOOSING how we'll show up. Proactively and intentionally.
Choose wisely. And when you do, watch what happens.
Keep Outperforming,

Outperform.
